What a hidden gem! We were immediately greeted by Dean, the owner, who was witty, warm and charming. The atmosphere is cozy, inviting and sophisticated. This is no ordinary deli. This is a foodie cafe. We had a glass of wine and the small plates: duck tacos, caprese Mac n Cheese, and Cajun tartare. So many amazing favors in these small plates. We had no room left for dessert, but it looked delicious and I will definitely be back to sample it and some of their unique chocolate.
This charming deli was refreshingly different from the “norm” in SLC. It reminded me of a place in Brooklyn before Brooklyn became more hipster than hip. The staff was helpful in a “I’m just doing this for the summer” kind of way, and the food was basically good, with a few misses. The desserts were scrumptious and huge! Cucina’s is an oasis, in this “Birkenstock,” “all natural,” PC residential neighborhood, begging for more food and liquor venues. This is a neighborhood treasure.
